Why I built GLP Journey
Because GLP-1 medication users deserve a nutrition app that actually understands their needs.
The problem
Millions of people are starting GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Wegovy. These medications are transformative — but they come with a unique set of dietary challenges that no existing app addresses.
Generic calorie trackers don't understand injection-day sensitivity. They don't know that a food you tolerated fine on Thursday might make you sick on Saturday. They can't tell you whether the meal you're about to eat is likely to trigger nausea, or that you're dangerously low on protein.
Why this exists
I started GLP-1 medication a couple of years ago with no real understanding of how much diet matters on these drugs. I learned the hard way — severe nausea, vomiting, and eventually an ER visit for gastrointestinal complications. It got bad enough that I stopped taking the medication entirely.
When I decided to give it another shot, I did the research I should have done the first time. What I found was eye-opening: most of the problems I'd experienced were directly tied to what and how I was eating. Looking back, I was triggering my own side effects without realizing it.
I'm a software developer by trade, so I did what I know how to do — I built something to make my second attempt successful. That tool became GLP Journey.
My goal is to make it available to others so they don't go through the same experience I did. And for those already struggling with side effects, to give them something that might help connect the dots between what they ate and how they feel.
What GLP Journey believes
- Nutrition guidance should be specific, not generic. What works for someone on day 1 of Ozempic is different from month 6 of Mounjaro.
- Decisions matter more than data. Logging 2,000 calories doesn't help when you're nauseous and don't know what to eat.
- AI should augment, not replace, your judgment. GLP Journey gives you the information to make good choices — you stay in control.
GLP Journey is built by Castle Foundry LLC, based in Tennessee.
